As a learner-centered institution, COCC is committed to outcomes-based assessment of student learning. In order to establish a culture of sustainable assessment within the instructional departments, the College has devoted energy and funding to providing resources, financial incentives and assessment training to faculty. The Faculty Assessment Team (FAT), this year composed of several faculty members, the VP of Instruction and the Instructional Assessment Specialist, is a resource for faculty and works to deepen understanding and spread the use of embedded assessment within instruction. The Instructional Assessment Specialist was hired in the fall of 2006 as a dedicated assessment resource for faculty. Full time faculty have been allocated $500 each specifically for assessment training.
